Bar

I have really come to love a good home bar, from both an aesthetic perspective in what it offers a room visually, and from a functional perspective in how it creates another gathering place (other than the kitchen) that people congregate around when entertaining.

Being as this house is focused on entertaining, and the bar area is within the Living Room space, the goal was to make the bar seamlessly integrate into the overall room design, yet stand out as a focal point in the room. To achieve this I utilized a library bar design that integrated lots of open shelving for books and personal items, as well as a media center cabinet.

I gave Cabinet Designers a sketch of what I wanted to accomplish here and they translated it perfectly to the built space; Jesse came back and measured after framing was complete, so we had locked dimensions to work from and then I verified all after they completed the shop drawing to ensure our measurements were dead on. In this particular circumstance that was crucial, as we had two ‘hold to’ measurements we couldn’t change; the outer wall and the chimney.

The sage green color exudes a calming vibe and plays well with the floors and the backsplash. The backsplash is a custom color mix of triangle ceramics that I laid out on site as Tom the Tile man started the install, and the integrated low voltage lights from Kichler, and sconce from Kohler layer in a beautiful layer of subtle lighting, all on dimmers, that offer a nice mix of task and mood lighting to the space.

I continued with the Neolith countertops here, as the amount of lemons and limes that would be cut on this surface would surely damage natural stone in no time flat, not to mention that I had to make zero compromise on the aesthetic.

Lastly, I was able to stay with GE Cafe for the wine fridge, beverage fridge, and ice maker to continue with a cohesive look coming from the kitchen; and the ice maker being offered with a custom panel (the only custom panel appliance in this build) allowed me to keep the design perfectly balanced.
