the barn

The barn is such a special piece of this property. As a phase 1 of this entire project it gave me a comfortable and warm place to call home base while I worked on the house, and now that we are done it is an amazing airbnb space that allows us to share our home with other travelers seeking nature in these beautiful mountains.

At 350 square feet it is the perfect studio apartment with king size bed, desk area, small couch that folds out as an additional bed so we can sleep 4 in total, and a small kitchenette with Kohler bar sink and Artifacts faucet + a 2 burner propane power cooktop and a Keurig.

The bathroom is Kohler top to bottom: sink, faucet, medicine cabinet, toilet, towel rack, pre-cast shower pan, sliding glass shower doors, and shower head setup. The pre-cast shower pan was clutch, as I really wanted to save the original barn floors, so avoiding a custom shower pan and mud job here made my life A LOT easier…and introduced a lot less weight to the barn floor.

TRIANGLE PATIO & Deck

Before we get to the triangle patio, I utilized Techo-Bloc’s Boriallias stepping stones, which look just like tree trunks cut in section, and laid them flush to the top of the grass so that guests going to the barn have a clean way of getting there in inclement weather.

The triangle patio itself, gives our Airbnb guests a great place to have a fire pit in the Cowboy Cauldron fire bowl and hang out on the Polywood Modern Adirondack chairs, while listening to the creek flow by. I also added two Polywood rocking chairs on the deck along with a small high top table and 2 stools for morning coffee or a simple dinner on the grill.
