Powder Room
My favorite place to add some bold design choices that are fun and playful. I like to think of my power room as a chance to introduce something unexpected into the overall design on the home; it most certainly still needs to speak to the rest of the design elements, meaning you don’t want it to be completely disconnected from the design to the point where the reaction is ‘well this doesn’t fit’. What we are going for is something that speaks the same language as the rest of your home, but in a bolder fashion.
This power room is no exception, and it starts with Hygge & West’s new Canopy Mural wallpaper in black, so instantly taking all the light, bright white in the home away and going for a heavy contrast. The oversized floral print on the paper speaks to nature so that connectivity is there, and then we transition to the large cast iron Kohler basin sink, which exudes that farmhouse feel, as does the flush mount fixture from Kichler.
I asked Josh from Muthigs Plumbing if he was down to solder me up a faucet from rough 1/2” copper pipe because I wanted it to feel unfinished and old, and give my guests something to smile at as they turned the garden spigot valve to wash their hands.
