I have been spec’ing and using Robern medicine cabinets for about a decade. I love everything about them, and in the last few years they come out with some seriously cool stuff…namely:
Mirrors
Integrated lighting, which I love because 1) a design doesn’t always call for wall sconces next to or above the medicine cabinet and 2) even when it does they tend to throw a lot of shadows around, which makes it particularly challenging for one to do their makeup. With the integrated lights they are flush to the cabinet so almost disappear when they are off, they light you from the mirrors surface so literally zero shadows, and some models have different color temps for the light and/or the ability to dim the light.
Integrated outlets and USB’s inside the cabinet. This one is pretty self explanatory, but love it nonetheless.
And then came Uplift. I had a full on design melt-down when I found this at KBIS 2019. Instead of your typical medicine cabinet that opens on a hinge, the Uplift glides straight up with the lightest touch. It has the integrated lighting and outlets as well, and I absolutely love that it slides straight up instead of a side hinge. Aside from the beauty and silky smooth mechanism, it is also practical for smaller spaces where you are close to a wall on either side that would not otherwise allow for the full articulation of a swing door.
Vanities
And their vanities are pretty incredible as well. The Cartesian is completely modular so you can setup whatever configuration you are trying to achieve. Cartesian also has in drawer electric; think never have to unplug your hair dryer or flat iron ever again (and yes there is a safety switch inside).
